Body of missing fisherman found in Dollar Lake

By Victoria Walton

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Halifax District RCMP received a call of an overdue fisherman who had failed to return from Dollar Lake Provincial Park.

The RCMP — along with the Department of Lands and Forestry, conservation officers, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and several local fire departments — responded to the call.

The 72-year-old Lower Sackville man had parked his truck at the boat launch.

After a search of the immediate area, Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) was called in.

GSAR located the body of the missing man in the water at 1:47 a.m. Sunday morning.

RCMP say the man appeared to be wearing a flotation suit, and the investigation is ongoing, with an autopsy scheduled for tomorrow.
