UPDATE: HRP say Highway 103 has reopened to traffic.

A driver has been taken to hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries after a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning.

Halifax Regional Police say it happened on Highway 103 near the merge to Highway 102.

As of 9 a.m., the 103 is closed in that area, with traffic being diverted to the Timberlea Village Parkway, Bayers Lake and St. Margarets Bay Road.

Police expect the diversion to be in place for "an extended period of time."
