Guns and drugs seized in weekend search

Two people are facing charges after a police search in Dartmouth over the weekend related to an ongoing investigation.

Halifax Regional Police say both the drug unit and guns and gangs unit were involved in the search on Wyse Road.

They say officers seized two guns, ammunition, a knife, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

A man and woman were arrested at the scene.

Prince Joseph Hobin, 24, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court Monday to face charges of:

  • Two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Two counts of unsafe storage contrary to regulations 
  • Three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon 
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing it is unauthorized 
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition 
  • Five counts of possession contrary to a prohibition order 
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

 
A 27-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Two counts of unsafe storage contrary to regulations
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized 
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition 
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking 

Anyone with information about illegal firearms is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
