Male patient arrested following assault in hospital

Halifax Regional Police arrested an adult male patient, who has allegedly assaulted a paramedic at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital emergency department at 1799 Robie St. in Halifax.

The incident occurred on Oct. 7 at around 8:23 p.m. 

According to police, Emergency Health Services reported that an adult male patient was physically aggressive, throwing objects and striking a paramedic.

No injuries have been reported, police say. 

Police arrived on the scene and arrested the accused shortly after the incident. 

As a result, a 33-year-old male from Halifax was charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon 

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and a Halifax court date.
