Man charged after 5 starving dogs found with rocks in their bellies

By CityNews Halifax Staff

An Annapolis County man is facing a slew of charges after five starving dogs were found with rocks in their bellies.

The Nova Scotia SPCA says the dogs were seized early last month after enforcement officers received a report that a number of dogs were suffering from neglect.

All of the dogs were taken immediately for veterinary care as a result of the living conditions and unhealthy physical appearance.

SPCA officers investigated and determined there was enough evidence ot charge the owner.

Tyler Bezanson, 29, has been charged with five counts of permitting an animal to be in distress under the Animal Protection Act of Nova Scotia.

Bezanson is scheduled to appear in Annapolis Provincial Court in September.

A recent post on the shelter's Twitter page says the dogs, which they refer to as “Greenie and his friends,” are making “inspirational” improvements.

Anyone who has any complaints or concerns about potential animal abuse can contact the SPCA.
