A man has been charged with the sexual assault of a woman in Dartmouth over the weekend.

Halifax Regional Police received the report at around 7:45 a.m. Sunday.

They say the victim was sexually assaulted by a man she didn't know in a building on Alderney Dr.

Officers soon arrested a suspect at an Eastern Passage residence.

In addition to sexual assault, 50-year-old Marcus Stafford Yearwood has also been charged with choking and breaching a court order.

He's scheduled to appear in court today.

"We are not releasing any further details out of respect and concern for the victim's privacy and wellbeing," said HRP in a news release.
