A man has been charged with uttering threats following a land ownership dispute.

RCMP were told an unwanted man was near a home on Westhaver Rd. in Glen Margaret (between Peggys Cove and Tantallon) at around 11 a.m. last Friday.

“Officers learned that the home owners, a man and a woman, were disputing the land ownership where an ATV trail is located,” said Mounties in a news release.

“While officers were at the scene, the man exited the home, became belligerent and uttered threats to police.”

When police told the man he was under arrest, they say he ran off.

RCMP returned to Westhaver Rd. the next day with a search warrant.

They say they seized a crossbow, crossbow bolts, a break-action air rifle and an antique muzzle loader firearm from the home and arrested the man.

Craig Derek Morash, 52, of Glen Margaret, has been charged with:

  • Mischief
  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Uttering threats
  • Escape and being at large without excuse
  • Failure to appear or to comply with a summons

He's been released and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on June 21, at 9:30 a.m.
