A 59-year-old man has been handed a $2,422 ticket under the Health Protection Act.

Halifax Regional Police were called to a Halifax hotel early Thursday afternoon and say he was failing to isolate as required by COVID-19 public health directives.

"HRP is reminding everyone to follow the current public health measures related to the COVID-19 emergency," police said in a news release.

"We strongly advise members of the public to continue to educate themselves on these public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures."
