A man has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a random attack in Lower Sackville.

Halifax District RCMP say the 39-year-old was walking on a Sackville Dr. sidewalk near Pinehill Dr. at around 1:15 a.m. Thursday when he was stabbed several times with an unknown weapon.

The suspect was last seen walking in the direction of Downsview Mall.

He's described as black, 5'10" and around 30 years old, with cornrows pulled back into a ponytail. He was wearing dark clothing.

Police say the victim didn't know the person who stabbed him.
