Halifax Regional Police say they've received more reports of counterfeit American currency circulating in our area.

"Over the last five months, police have received 23 reports of counterfeit American $50 and $100 bills being used at local businesses," said police in a news release.

HRP are urging people and businesses to check for security features on both Canadian and American bank notes before accepting them.

If you think a bill might be fake, don't accept it.

If you have received a counterfeit bill or if someone attempts to use money that appears to be counterfeit, you can call police at 902-490-5020.
