Halifax Regional Police say a woman was sexually assaulted after having car trouble.

Police say at around 11:45 p.m. on Thanksgiving Monday, the woman flagged down a passing motorist on Kearney Lake Road after her vehicle broke down.

They say the woman who picked her up sexually assaulted her. She got out when the vehicle stopped, grabbing the driver's cell phone before she got away.

"We are not releasing any further details out of respect and concern for the victim's privacy and well-being," said HRP in a news release.

The suspect is described as white, in her late 30s, around 5'4" and 130 pounds with medium-length black hair and a flower tattoo on her left hand. She had been wearing a dark jacket and black pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
