Police clear scene after human remains discovered in Dartmouth

UPDATE: Police have now cleared the scene on Elliott Street in Dartmouth.

“We would like to thank members of the public and local residents for their patience as police completed their work in the area during this period, and we recognize this has come as disturbing news for the community,” a news release says. “No further updates are available on this matter at this time and the investigation is ongoing.”

Halifax Regional Police is investigating the discovery of human remains.

Officers were called to a wooded area near Elliott Street at around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Medical Examiner's Office has since confirmed the remains to be human.

Police say the investigation is still in the early stages and no further information is available at this time.
