Police continue to investigate 20 years after disappearance of Bruce Andrew Forbes

By Meghan Groff

Halifax Regional Police are hoping for new information as the 20th anniversary of the disappearance of Bruce Andrew Forbes approaches.

The 37-year-old was last seen at a Regent Road residence on July 16, 2002. He was reported missing the next day.

“The circumstances of his disappearance are suspicious and foul play is suspected,” police said in a news release.

According the province's crime rewards program, Forbes had a serious health condition that required daily medication.

“It is believed that Mr. Forbes was not in possession of this medication at the time of his disappearance,” said a post on the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program website.

It added it's also believed he had a lot of money on him when he disappeared.

Investigators believe there are people with information that could help them solve the case.

“We hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know,” HRP said. “It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.”

Anyone with information can call police at 902-490-5016.

The case is also part of the province's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. All calls to 1-888-710-9090 are recorded and those who come forward need to provide their name and contact information, and may be called to testify in court.
