Police investigate Dartmouth party, Highfield Park shootings

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) is investigating two shootings that occurred in the Dartmouth area early Sunday morning.

One shooting took place at a Dartmouth party, where a 23-year-old man arrived at a hospital around 1:40 a.m. on Feb. 27 with a gunshot wound.

“The investigation is in the early stages, however, the man is believed to have been shot by an unknown suspect while at a party in the Dartmouth area,” HRP says in a news release.

According to police, the man's gunshot wound is non-life-threatening.

The second shooting occurred in Highfield Park on Nadia Drive around 2:52 a.m.

Around that time, police responded to a report of an unknown suspect firing shots toward a vehicle in the 0-200 block of Nadia Drive.

“At this time there are no injuries reported as a result of the incident,” the news release says. “It is unknown at this time whether this incident relates to the earlier incident reported above.”

Both investigations are currently ongoing.
