Police investigating Dartmouth shooting

Halifax Regional Police are on the scene after receiving reports of gunfire in the area of Brookside Avenue in Dartmouth.

Officers responded to this incident at approximately 8:40 p.m.

According to police, a residence and a parked vehicle in the area were struck by gunfire.

When officers arrived, they located a 22-year-old male who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe this was not a random incident.

The investigation is ongoing. 

Police are asking residents to avoid the area to allow officers to conduct the investigation.
