Halifax Regional Police are searching for two suspects after a taxi driver was assaulted in a grocery store parking lot, then his cab was stolen.

It happened on Sunday, March 6 at around 7 p.m.

Police say two women took the cab from Creighton Street to the Joseph Howe Drive Atlantic Superstore.

One woman then went into the store, while the other stayed in the taxi with the driver.

HRP say the first woman returned with groceries, the pair loaded them into the cab, they assaulted the driver, then took off in his vehicle.

The driver wasn't physically injured.

Soon after, the taxi's GPS was discovered near London and Connolly streets. The cab -- which is a golden brown four-door Toyota Camry with a taxi roof light -- was found the next day on West Street.

One suspect is described as in her fifties with a medium build and her hair in ponytail.

The other is described as being in her late teens or early twenties with blonde hair. She had been wearing a light grey coat and dark pants.

Anyone with information or video from the area is asked to call 902-490-5016 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
