Halifax Regional Police have handed a 17-year-old two $2,000 tickets under the Health Protection Act.

Police say the first was given out Friday after officers were told the Halifax youth was not self-isolating as required.

The teen was ticketed again on Sunday for the same violation.

A 40-year-old Bedford man was also fined $2,000 Friday morning.

Police were called to a Bedford apartment building to investigate a report of a man not wearing a mask in the common areas.

"The provincial regulations require everyone to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth while present in a public place," said HRP in a news release.
