Two charged after victim assaulted, robbed and has car stolen

Two men are facing charges after a robbery in Dartmouth earlier this week.

Halifax Regional Police were called to Marketplace Drive at around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.

They were told three men with a bat assaulted the victim, then took their money and vehicle.

The victim's non-life threatening injuries were treated at the scene and the vehicle was soon recovered in the Highfield Park area.

Police do not believe the incident was random.

Officers arrested two suspects Wednesday evening near Magazine Hill and say they seized cocaine.

Daniel L. J. Michaud, 29, is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Assault
  • Robbery
  • Failure to comply with a release order 

Jonathan Taasan Tibayan, 51, is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Robbery
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
