Woman shot, 3D printed firearm seized in East Preston

By Meghan Groff

A 20-year-old Cole Harbour woman was taken to hospital Sunday night with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

In a 911 call at around 10 p.m. she said she had been shot at a property on Highway 7 in East Preston.

RCMP say she was in a garage when she heard a loud bang.

When they arrived, officers detained four people and arrested a 20-year-old Dartmouth man for obstructing a police officer. They were all later released without charges.

A police search of the property on Monday turned up a 3D printed firearm and ammunition.

“The manufacturing of 3D printed firearms is an offence under the Criminal Code,” Mounties said in a news release.

Police are still investigating and believe the firearm was discharged unintentionally.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the manufacturing of 3D printed firearms is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
