The Cape Breton Eagles defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 5-4 in overtime on Saturday night.

Zachary L'Heureux opened up the scoring early in the first period.

Nathan Larose and Dawson Stairs answered back to make it 2-1 Cape Breton after 20 minutes.

Zach Jones tied things up for the Herd in the second period with Elliot Desnoyers giving them a 3-2 lead.

Felix Pare later tied it up for the Eagles after 40 minutes.

Émile Hegarty-Aubin put the Eagles up 4-3 but a late goal from L'Heureux tied things up to force overtime where Stairs scored the game winner for Cape Breton.

The Mooseheads will make their way to Sydney on Tuesday to take on the Eagles again.
