The Cape Breton Eagles topped the Halifax Mooseheads 6-5 in overtime on Friday.
Markus Vidicek opened up the scoring, giving Halifax a 1-0 lead at the midway point of the opening frame.
Ivan Ivan tied things up for the Eagles to make it 1-1 going into the second period.
Charles Boutin gave Cape Breton a 2-1 lead early in the second period with Samuel Johnson following up to make it 3-1 Eagles.
Alexandre Doucet brought the Herd within one with Vidicek tying things up shortly after.
But Johnson and Angelo Fullerton scored back-to-back to give the Eagles a 5-3 lead heading into the second period.
Zachary L'Heureux scored twice for the Herd to tie it up at 5-5, forcing overtime where Johnson completed the hat-trick to give Cape Breton the 6-5 win.
The Mooseheads and the Eagles square off one more time in 2022 on Saturday at Centre 200.
