Islanders snap Mooseheads’ win streak with 5-4 shootout win

The Charlottetown Islanders snapped the Halifax Mooseheads' 11 game win streak on Thursday with a 5-4 shootout win.

Zachary L'Heureux  opened up the scoring, putting Halifax on top 1-0 after 20 minutes of action.

L'Heureux made it 2-0 early in the second period.

Charlottetown bounced back as Simon Hughes and Michael Horth tied things up.

Halifax ended the period back on top after Mathieu Cataford found the back of Charlottetown's net.

Marcus Kearsey answered back early in the third period to tie things up for the Islanders.

Evan Boucher restored the Herd's lead but Giovanni Morneau tied it up minutes later, forcing overtime.

Neither team managed to net a game winner in overtime, leading to a shootout where the Isles sealed the deal.

The Mooseheads will take on the Islanders again on Friday in Charlottetown.
