By Meghan Groff

Halifax Mooseheads captain Justin Barron will be heading to Red Deer next month.

The 2020 Colorado Avalanche 1st Round draft pick is one of 46 players named to Team Canada's World Junior Selection Camp roster.

The five goaltenders, 15 defencemen and 26 forwards will get a shot at representing the country as they look to repeat as champions.

The selection camp runs from Nov. 28 and Dec. 13 and will be closed to the public and media. Hockey Canada will be closely following enhanced measures around testing and team protocols

The team will then head to Alberta for the tournament, where all games will be played without spectators at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

For the first time since 2005, this year's World Juniors kicks off on Christmas Day.

Canada's first game will be played Boxing Day against Germany.
