Mooseheads dismiss head coach J.J. Daigneault

By CityNews Halifax Staff

J.J. Daigneault won't be returning as head coach of the Halifax Mooseheads.

The team says Daigneault was dismissed Thursday morning.

During his two years behind the bench, the Herd posted a record of 35-71.

In a statement, majority owner Bobby Smith said he's grateful for Daigneault's leadership.

“The past two years have been rebuilding seasons for our club after playing in the 2019 Memorial Cup final and this past season we had the youngest team in the QMJHL,” he said.

“Over the course of a trying 2020-21 season our young players developed tremendously and for this Coach Daigneault deserves much credit.”

The search for a new head coach begins immediately.
