The Mooseheads picked up thier 24th win of the season in Saint John on Friday night, in the teams first game of 2023.
Halifax fell behind twice to the Sea Dogs early on, and twice came back to tie the game on goals from Markus Vidicek and Brody Fournier.
The game was all knotted up at 2-2 heading into the third period.
Dylan MacKinnon would pot his 5th goal of the season at the halfway point of the final frame to give Halifax a 3-2 lead.
Vidicek would add his second of the night and 20th of the season to make it 4-2 Mooseheads.
Saint John would add another late in the third to bring the game back within one, but Cam Whynot would finish off a strange bounce to restore the Mooseheads' two-goal lead just minutes later.
Another late Sea Dogs goal would bring it to 5-4 with just 12 seconds left. Former Sea Dog Josh Lawrence would finish into the empty net to make it 6-4, which was the final.
