Mooseheads drop game to Rouyn-Noranda in the shootout

By Mark Hodgins

The first shootout of the season for the Halifax Mooseheads didn't go the way the team would have liked.

Halifax would open the scoring on goal from Marcus Vidicek with just one minute left in the first period. The home side would extend that lead to 2-0 in the second on a goal from David Moravec.

Daniil Bourash would respond for the Huskies late in the second to make it a one-goal game heading into the third period.

Rouyn-Noranda's Dyllan Gill would tie the game with just 1:33 remaining in period three on a seeing-eye shot from the point. The two sides would need overtime to solve this one.

The extra frame was a back-and-forth affair but the teams couldn't get a goal to go, forcing the first shootout of this young Mooseheads season.

The Huskies would score once while the Mooseheads were held off the board in the shootout, as Rouyn-Noranda took the win.

The Mooseheads will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, welcoming the Acadie-Bathurst Titan for a matinee matchup. Tune in to the pre-game show with Garreth MacDonald starting at 1:30 p.m. on CityNews 95.7.
