The Cape Breton Eagles defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 4-3 in a shootout win at the Scotiabank Centre.

After a scoreless opening period, Matthew MacDonald put the Eagles on the board in the second period.

Vincent Gauthier responded quickly after to tie things up at 1-1.

Connor Trenholm restored the Eagles' lead near the end of the second period to make it 2-1.

Markus Vidicek evened things up for the Herd early in the third period.

Mathieu Cataford gave Halifax their first lead but Sean Larochelle tied things a short time later, forcing overtime.

Neither team managed to ice it in overtime, resulting in a shootout where the Cape Breton picked up the win.

The Mooseheads are back in action next Friday when they visit Charlottetown.
