Mooseheads lose tight tilt to Remparts

By Mark Hodgins

The Mooseheads came up just short of a comeback on Sunday afternoon in Quebec City.

There were no goals in the first two periods of play as the Remparts outshot Halifax 30 to 17 heading into the third frame.

Halifax's Zach L'Heureux would break the scoreless tie early in the third to put the Mooseheads up 1-0.

But that lead wouldn't last long.

The Remparts' Evan Nause would hammer home his second of the season to bring the game back to level again.

Quebec City would add to that lead nearing the halfway mark of the third period. A powerplay goal from Theo Rochette put the Rempart on top for the first time in the game.

And the Remparts would keep up the pressure, adding a shorthanded marker from Nate Gaucher just moments later to stretch the lead to 3-1.

Halifax would get a goal from captain Elliott Desnoyers in the final minute of play to draw within one, but Quebec would hold on for the 3-2 win.
