The Halifax Mooseheads have tied a franchise record with a 6-3 win over the Shawinigan Cataractes on Thursday night.
The Mooseheads have gone 17 consecutive games without a regulation loss, tying a franchise record set by the 2013 squad that won the Memorial Cup.
It didn't take long for the Mooseheads to strike as Jake Furlong found the back of Shawinigan's net less than a minute into the first period.
Markus Vidicek made it 2-0 on a short-handed goal with Attilio Biasca following up minutes later to make it a three goal lead.
Evan Boucher added to Halifax's lead but former Moosehead Stéphane Huard Jr answered back to put Shawinigan on the board.
Jordan Dumais restored Halifax's four goal lead late in the second period.
Lorenzo Canonica found the back of Halifax's net early in the third period but Zachary L'Heureux quickly responded to keep the Herd up by four.
Jacob Lafontaine added another for the Cataractes but the Mooseheads held on to win it 6-3.
The Mooseheads will have a chance to break the franchise record as they make their way to Saint John to take on the Sea Dogs on Friday.
