Mooseheads to play at Scotiabank Centre on Friday for first time in over two months

By Chris Halef

The Halifax Mooseheads will play at the Scotiabank Centre on Friday for the first time in more than two months.

The last time the Herd played at home was Dec. 16 when they welcomed Acadie-Bathurst.

The Mooseheads returned to action earlier this month on the road but were unable to play at home due to COVID-19 restrictions in Nova Scotia.

But with the province entering Phase 1 of its reopening plan, Halifax returns to the Scotiabank Centre Friday night to take on the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Mooseheads' president Brian Urquhart told CityNews Halifax there are still some restrictions in effect.

“We're at a maximum of 3,000 capacity and there will be no food and drink in the seats, but Scotiabank Centre has done a good job to create some designated areas for food and drink for all three levels of the building,” he said.

Urquhart said spirits are high on the team currently as they are just happy to be back in action in what has been a very tight Maritimes Division.

“With the Memorial Cup being in Saint John this year, the Maritimes Division alone has been very strong,” said Urquhart. “Each night has been a battle but that's why the kids play and that's why the fans show up.”

Puck drop for Friday's game is set for 7 p.m. and you can catch the action live on CityNews 95.7 with play-by-play man Garreth MacDonald.
