The Chicoutimi Saguenéens topped the Halifax Mooseheads 8-5 at the Scotiabank Centre on Friday.

The Sags opened up the scoring with an Etienne Tremblay-Mathieu marker.

Logan Crosby quickly answered back seconds later to make it 1-1 but Zachary Gravel netted one for the Sags to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes.

Mathieu Cataford tied things back up early in the second period. Chicoutimi's Marc-Antoine Séguin restored their lead minutes later to make it 3-2 Sags.

Attilio Biasca tied things up for the Herd but Félix Bédard, Jeremy Leroux and Emmanuel Vermette quickly put the Sags up by three after two periods.

James Swan netted one for the Herd near the midway point of the third period but Jacob Newcombe answered back to restore the Sags' three goal lead.

Brody Fournier brought Halifax back within two but an empty netter from Newcombe sealed the deal for the Sags.

The Mooseheads are back in the Scotiabank Centre on Saturday when they welcome the Charlottetown Islanders.
