Wildcats edge out Mooseheads 4-3

By CityNews Halifax Staff

The Moncton Wildcats topped the Halifax Mooseheads 4-3 on Sunday.

The Wildcats got the best of the Herd in the opening frame as Maxim Barbashev and Thomas Darcy netted a pair for Moncton while Evan Boucher got the lone Halifax goal.

Moncton's Etienne Morin extended their lead to 3-1 in the second but Boucher brought the Mooseheads within one with his second goal of the afternoon.

Boucher got the hat-trick early in the third period to tie things up for the Mooseheads.

But Vincent Labelle netted the game winner late in the final period to make it 4-3 Moncton.

The Mooseheads are back in the Scotiabank Centre on Monday when they take on the Wildcats again.
