Police make arrest in police hit-and-run

Police have arrested a man in connection with a November hit-and-run on the Macdonald Bridge involving two of their own.
Two officers were hospitalized when a car sped through a checkpoint.
After a search of an Appian Way home in Dartmouth Sunday night, police arrested 20-year-old Kevin Alexander MacDougall.
Police say they found evidence relating to the hit-and-run at the home as well as cocaine and marijuana.
On November 29 police officers had set up a police checkpoint as part of Operation Christmas, which targets at drunk drivers.
Police say when the officers approached the car, the vehicle quickly accelerated, dragging one officer a short distance and throwing the other onto the pavement. The vehicle then took off into Dartmouth.
MacDougall will be charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and drug trafficking. He’s due in Dartmouth Provincial court Tuesday.
