Baby girl in critical condition after ingesting methadone

A 23 month-old New Brunswick girl is in critical condition at the IWK after ingesting methadone.

Paramedics and District 11 Caledonia RCMP were called to a Havelock home on Friday.

Police say the little girl had ingested the methadone at some point in the previous 24 hours.

The child was taken to the Moncton Hospital before being airlifted to Halifax.

Police say two people were arrested and released, but no charges have been laid.

The incident is being investigated.
