Cape Breton MLA Dave Wilson has still not shed any light on his recent resignation – and now his consituency assistant appears to be doing anything necessary to provide an explanation.
Wilson mysteriously resigned last week and it has since been revealed he’s hired a criminal lawyer. Neither will offer any comment about the reason for his sudden retirement.
On Thursday, a Herald reporter in Cape Breton got Wilson’s assistant David MacKeigan to agree to an interview – but the paper says McKeigan “bolted” before the interview could happen.
Liberal leader Stephen MacNeil says he still doesn’t know what led to Wilson’s hasty exit from politics, but says he hopes the former MLA makes a statement soon.
An official with the auditor general’s office says Auditor General Jacques Lapointe has not turned over any information to the RCMP as of Thursday.
