A downtown bar that was cited for overcrowding and overserving has been ordered to close down for five days next month.
The Utility and Review Board has reserved judgement on whether the Toothy Moose will lose its cabaret license as well.
The CBC reports the board ruled the Argyle Street bar failed to ensure the safety of its customers by packing far more customers in than was allowed on at least six different nights.
Vice-chair Margaret Shears called the violations “outrageous,” noting hundreds of people could have been killed if there’d been a fire on any of those nights.
The Toothy Moose is owned by the same group that owns Bubbles’ Mansion, which closed down on Wednesday.
