Auditor General Jacques Lapointe will release the results of his forensic investigation into MLA’s expenses Tuesday morning.
This is a second, closer look at some of the expense claims by some of Nova Scotia’s MLA’s.
It’s unclear how many were scrutinized, but something has been referred to police.
It’s been some time since Lapointe’s initial report on MLAs expenses revealed what he called excessive and inappropriate spending.
Several MLA’s have received a closer look and the results of that probe will be released on Tuesday.
Lapointe says he has contacted the RCMP.
“I have, in the course of my investigation, been in contact with police yes,” said Lapointe.
He won’t say more and neither will RCMP Sergeant Brigdit Leger.
“Really, at this point, it would be inappropriate for the RCMP to comment until the auditor general makes his announcement tomorrow (Tuesday),” Leger said.
Liberal leader Stephen McNeil says he has no idea what’s in Lapointe’s report.
“I don’t know whether or not his audit has turned up anything, or if in fact he’s going to come out tomorrow (Tuesday) and say everything is fine,” said the Liberal leader.
The auditor general will release his report tomorrow morning at 9:30.
