Teen killed in single-vehicle crash identified

Police are progressing in their investigation into a horrific Dartmouth car crash that killed a teen boy Sunday night.

The impact of the crash ripped permanent skid marks into a driveway on Cranberry Crescent.

A local teen was found inside the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Theresa Rath with Halifax police says the driver and passenger ran away.

“We have confirmed the identity of the victim as 15-year-old David Alexander Julien from Dartmouth,” she said. “Two men who are both 18 turned themselves into police today just before noon.”

Rath adds the investigation is ongoing and speed is most definitely a factor.

That doesn’t surprise residents like Craig Carnell.

“I just live up around the corner,” he said. “We’ve been here since ’83 and there have been multiple accidents in this general area. That curve is really bad.”

Carnell says he heard cars racing earlier in the evening and called the crash scene horrific.

Police say they are also investigating whether alcohol was a factor.
