Toothy Moose to maintain cabaret hours

A downtown Halifax bar will be allowed to stay open until the wee hours.

The Utility and Review Board rejected a proposal to force the Toothy Moose to close at 2 a.m.

Officials with the  Alcohol and Gaming Division  recommended the 2 a.m. closure for a year, based on recent infractions the bar had regarding drunkenness, disorderly conduct and overcrowding.

However, the UARB ruled the early closing hour might put the club out of business.

It will likely be allowed to stay open until the time most cabarets may close, 3:30 in the morning.
