Video of altercation between student and principal leaked

A controversial video tape of Graham Creighton Junior High School’s former principal involved in a physical altercation with a student has now made it’s way on to YouTube.

The school survellience video leaked by Frank Magazine shows the principal first bringing a student to the ground, putting his hands on the student’s neck and then walking him through the halls in a half-nelson hold.

Education Minister Marilyn More says she has not seen the video becuase Ken Fells has 20 days to appeal the decision handed down by the Halifax Regional School Board following the incident.

“I see my role as protecting due process and I’m not going to get involved in any of the details of the situation,” says More. “It’s a personnel matter and it’s being dealt with by that board.”

Throughout the process little was said about why Fells was facing termination. The board decided not to fire Fells but are not letting him return to the Cherry Brook school.

The student was apparently trying to video tape a fight at the school on his cellphone when the incident occured.
