Nova Scotia RCMP are now apparently asking questions about Trevor Zinck’s constituency expenses.
An NDP spokesman tells the Herald caucus staff were contacted by investigators looking into files recently turned over by the auditor general.
Mark Laventure says the questions were not about a current NDP member and involved files that had been previously turned over to the Speaker’s office.
Zinck, the MLA for Dartmouth North, was turfed from the NDP in March because of concerns about his office expenses. The party turned all its information over to speaker Charlie Parker, who turned it over to the auditor general.
RCMP are now investigating four former and one current MLA for possible illegal activity related to expenses, though none of the five have been identified.
Zinck tells the paper he hadn’t heard about the police inquiries to the NDP caucus.
