Police say they’ve been nabbing some extra-drunk drunk drivers

There are drunk drivers and then there are over the top drunk drivers.

Regional police say they’ve charged 33 people in the month of May for impaired driving.

Cst. Brian Palmeter with Halifax police says one of the 33 was way over the legal limit.

“The highest reading we saw was 310 which is almost four times the legal limit,” says Palmeter. “The vast majority of the public would not even be able to even function at that limit.”

Of the 33 charged, 29 were men.

Most of the accused were caught at traffic stops, but 10 were called in by concerned citizens.
