Developers go to public first with plans for Rockingham area

Another big project is being proposed in Halifax, and the developers are seeking out public input before they go to the city with a formal planning application.

The W.M. Fares Group wants to develop more than 60 acres of land in the Rockingham area. The land being looked at is in Sherwood Park, on the former radio transmitter lands near Dunbrack and Tremont Drive.

Plans include a mixed residential development with single-family and multi-unit buildings.

However company engineer Cesar Selah says they are going to the public first, before they make any more detailed plans.

“With this site, considering how important it is, we have opted to hold a public participation meeting before we finalize our plans, to take what people have to see into consideration,” says Selah.

The public meeting starts at 7 Wednesday night at St. Benedict Church on Radcliffe Drive.
