Nine employees at the Burnside jail have been disciplined over the suicide of an inmate last April.
Daniel Alexander Nowogorski was found dead in his cell on April 17th.
His mother told CBC days later he’d hung himself.
The Justice Department and police launched an investigation, and while police say they found nothing suspicious, a Justice spokesperson says they identified some “performance issues” which lead to disciplinary action.
Sherri Aikenhead tells Metro Halifax she can’t go into details about who was disciplined or how.
She does say the problems occurred over time and weren’t completely isolated to Nowogorski’s death.
