Scam artist using lottery winners for email fraud

Even among scammers, this is pretty low.

Someone is taking advantage of the elderly Lower Truro couple who gave away all their lottery winnings over the summer.

Allan and Violet Large won $11 million in July and quietly gave it all away to friends and charitable organizations.

The story attracted international attention – and now the larges have learned that it attracted a fraudster, too.

The Larges learned on Wednesday that someone has been sending out emails in their name, asking recipients to provide all their personal information in order to collect some of the lotto loot.

Mr. Large tells the Herald he’s really angry that someone is using his name to make a fast buck after all the good he’s done.

He says he hopes they catch the person and make them work on a rock pile with a teaspoon to break up the stones.
