A 51-year-old man is in custody after a standoff that forced police to cordon off part of a Truro area neighborhood Saturday night.
RCMP say they were called to a home on Blainedale Drive in Salmon River just before 10:30pm Saturday night after a 911 call about an intoxicated 51 year-old Bible Hill man barricaded inside a residence with a weapon.
The complainants told officers they had been threatened, but both were able to leave without incident.
A small area was quickly cordoned off and the RCMP Emergency Response Team and a Crisis Negotiation Team was brought in to assist.
RCMP officers were able to speak to the lone man in the home during the course of the stand-off.
Then, Sunday morning just before 8am, the RCMP Emergency Response Team entered the home and arrested the man without incident.
He remains in police custody and the investigation continues.
