3pm Hour – Halifax gets a big F

Certain extracurricular sports are being banned by Halifax Regional School Board because groups that rent the facilities are damaging things. We chat with the school board’s Doug Hadley. An audit on the openness of Nova Scotia’s municipalities gave a big F. King’s journalism professor Fred VAllence-Jones carried out the audit and joins us to talk about the failings of the freedom of information system. Chronicle Herald columnist Marilla Stephenson called council’s decision to defer the Bayers Road widening decision a display of “pathetic cowardice”. Bedford councillor disagrees – he says there was good reason that council deferred the decision. He joins us. Producer Jennifer Casey had a scary run-in with a roaming pit bull this morning.
