N.S. gas prices expected to fall slightly

The gas price prediction isn’t as clear cut as usual this week.

Wholesale prices have fallen steadily since last Friday, with the exception of a small bump on Wednesday – the day the Utility and Review Board sets Nova Scotia’s regulated prices.

Similarly, the loonie has been rising over the last week, but saw a bit of a drop Wednesday.

A drawdown on gasoline and distillate fuel inventories over the last few days also translated into upwards pressure.

In unregulated markets, gas prices fell by two and a half cents overnight – but in New Brunswick, the regulated price rose by half a penny to a new maximum of $1.295 a litre.

After crunching these and a few other factors and predictors, News 95.7 is predicting gas prices will fall this week by about a penny a litre tonight.

That will move the cost of regular self-serve to about $1.29 a litre in metro.
