March marks third anniversary of hit-and-run murder

Cathy Valade says it’s no comfort that the driver who killed her daughter may not have even know there had been a fatal crash.

Rochelle Valade, 35, was struck and killed when the cab of a tractor trailer was backing up in a parking lot on Primerose Street on Dec. 3, 2008.

“It’s getting beyond an accident for me,” Cathy Valade told News 95.7 Friday. “This guy knows he did it, I feel anyway. Somebody out there has got to know something. I just want justice for Rochelle.”

To mark the third anniversary, Valade has organized a March named Justice for Rochelle, which will start at 2 p.m. at the corner of Primrose Street and Victoria Road and progress to the cemetery at the corner of Victoria Road and Nantucket Avenue. There will be a brief ceremony at Rachelle’s grave.

Valade is asking anyone who knew Rochelle to attend the event. She’s also urging the public to help police in their investigation.

Police are hoping the driver of the truck will come forward or anyone who may have been in the area at the time.

“We’re interested in speaking with any other truck drivers who may have frequented the area, maybe they made regular deliveries to that part of town, and might recognized that truck,” said Cons. Brian Palmeter.

Witnesses at the scene described the truck as a white tractor trailer cab with chrome “moose bars” or a protective grill on the front.
