The developer behind the “Twisted Sister” towers is reportedly ready to present the updated plans to Halifax Regional Council.
United Gulf Developments wants to build twin 48-storey towers at the corner of Hollis and Sackville streets, where the shorter “Twisted Sister” towers were expected to be built.
The project met with fierce resistance from heritage advocates, who argued the planned towers were too tall and out of keeping with the character of the downtown core.
The company’s vice-president of operations tells the Chronicle Herald the new development, known as ‘Skye Halifax,’ will be discussed during Tuesday’s council meeting.
Patrick Leroy said the plan is to get the ball rolling on the amendments needed to accommodate the development, and initiate the process that will lead to a public information meeting.
